The wine is rich and elegant with a striking dark red color. Intense bouquet of cherry, berry fruit, traces of strawberries, chocolate and spicy seasonings. The tannins are ripe, with aging potential and expected to peak within five years. A full mouthfeel and a long aftertaste. Excellent balance between body and aromas.
Decanting at least 30 minutes before serving
Vinification: Careful crushing of grapes, 18 days maceration, fermentation under controlled conditions, temperature 22-24C. After the alcoholic fermentation is conducted there's a malolactic fermentation in wood.
Aging: 15 months aging in barriques of French oak. Aged a minimum of 150 days in bottles.
In a leading wine magazine the Shulúq had been compared with the unchallenged Australian top wine - Penfolds Grange. A wine that is in a class of its own and which has a severe impact on the bank account with a retail price of abt. €500. Nevertheless the Shulúq had nothing to be ashamed of.
