Aleppo (or Halaby) is one of the most popular chili peppers in the Middle East and was named after the eponymous city of Aleppo in Syria. In the Middle East, as well as in the Mediterranean kitchen, this chili pepper is often used in dried form to season dishes. The mildly hot pepper is somewhat reminiscent of the Ancho chili pepper and has a sweet, raisin-like taste.
