The brill (Scophthalmus rhombus) is related to the turbot and occurs in the northeast and east of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

The chick is up to 75 inches long and eight pounds heavy. The highest recorded age is 6 years. The fish has a disk shape, but is slightly less angular and elongated than the turbot. Unlike the turbot the brill has a smooth skin. The fish is relatively thicker as the size increases.

The taste is not inferior to that of turbot and the fish is particularly its right by baking, stewing or frying.
